At First Presbyterian Church we seek to live our lives in conformity with the standards of Scripture as seen through the eyes of faith and grace, and experienced with a heart of mercy and compassion.
We are a congregation which is deeply rooted in our tradition of faith, and are always striving to develop a ministry which addresses and embraces the people who are confronted by a frantic, demanding, hurting, exhausting, and often violent world.
We truly seek to be a place where one can encounter the reality of Christ’s love and grace, and hope you will join us.
Loose change offerings for August will be given to Goodland Children’s Home. Larger contributions can be given in the offering plate by writing “Mission” on a check memo or envelope.
Coming Wednesdays beginning September 4th, 6:30p in the Parlor! Wresting with Angels, An Intimate Look at the Tough Questions of Life. This six-week study features candid conversations with ordinary people like you and me, and will address some of the questions we would like to ask God if he we had the opportunity: How do I know what to do? If you’re so good, why are things so awful? Why don’t my prayers get answered? How do I forgive? Is it okay to doubt? Why is it so hard to love? Each episode is hosted by a respected author who has struggled with and written about these particular issues. Make plans now to participate as your schedule allows.
On Friday, September 5, 2-6p the Lawton Fort Sill Chamber of Commerce is hosting its 1st Annual Welcome to the Community Expo in Central Mall’s Center Court. This would be a great opportunity to introduce First Presbyterian Church to people who may not know us and/or may be looking for a church home. As the time is short, it will require volunteers to host the booth, and individuals with the gifts and talents who can assist in creating an attractive display featuring the mission and ministry of FPC. If you are interested in helping, please notify the pastor or a member of Session ASAP. Thank you for your consideration.
5th Saturday Brunch is August 31 from 8:30a-10a. Volunteers will be needed, so if you can assist in this important outreach to our neighbors, please plan to participate. The blessing awaits you.
